JOB PURPOSE: Controller will report to the Executive Director in Los Angeles and to the Chief Financial Officer in the New York office. The Controller is responsible for managing the fiscal functions of the corporation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the Non-Profit industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
The Controller will be a well-organized individual who possesses strong accounting analytical skills.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations of the organization
  • Supervise accounts payable, credit, collections, accounts reconciliation, and billing
  • Liaise with Etta’s Professional Employer Organization (PEO) to process bi-weekly payroll
  • Manage, in conjunction with Executive Director & CFO, organizational cash flow
  • Prepare and analyze all financial statements
  • Manage all external financial reporting
  • Liaise with audit and finance committee as well as external auditors
  • Oversee financial regulatory compliance
  • Oversee annual budget process and subsequent variance reporting
  • Prepare budgets associated with medium- and long-term funding needs/requests (e.g., grants)
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new process/systems improvements (e.g., improved time and attendance system) as needed to support Etta’s growth
  • Other duties and/or projects may be assigned as needed
  • Supervise and train up to 4 persons (depending upon seasonal needs), including donor cultivation database manager and clerical accounting personnel
 
Minimum Qualifications
In order to perform these functions, applicants for the Controller position must:
 
·      have five (5) years (plus) years of industry or public accounting experience
·      have experience with most, and ideally all, of the domains listed above under “Essential Duties and Responsibilities”
·      Be proficient with Excel and Word; and accounting systems
·      CPA and/or MBA preferred
·      Experience with not-for-profit accounting preferred
 
And:
·      be able to legally work in the United States;
·      be able to pass a background check through Live Scan
·      Must pass a TB screening with a “negative” report
·      Must be able to provide 3 verifiable non-family references including 1 previous employer.

Director of Operations

Unique and exciting opportunity for an energetic and creative individual to serve as Director of Operations at ETTA.  This key senior level manager will oversee a variety of existing residential and community based programs for individuals who have special needs as well as have an integral role in the expansion of programs and services.  The successful candidate will be a creative thinker, whose leadership will bring direction and vision to Etta’s ever expanding agency.  Responsibilities include:
·      Supervision of clinical, managerial and direct care staff. Manage at least five managers and 50 total employees.
·      Knowledge of Title 17 & Title 22; significant experience with Regional Center; Experience with Adult Residential Facilities as well as non-residential services for individuals with developmental disabilities (including Supported Living Services, Independent Living Services, and Job Development)
·      Oversee program development and regulatory compliance,
·      Work effectively with clients, families, community leaders and outside government bodies. 
Individual should have significant clinical and supervisory experience, proven leadership ability, superior communication and writing skills, and be computer proficient.   Minimum of ten years of managerial and supervisory experience working with persons with developmental disabilities. Minimum of five years of managerial and supervisory experience in positions of increasing authority and responsibility required. Knowledge of Jewish community essential. Master’s degree preferred.

ETTA seeks an experienced, collaborative, results-oriented professional fundraiser to oversee its development department. This director will be a strategic and thought partner on the senior leadership team and will support the CEO in expansion of the organization revenue base through fundraising and other public support in order to achieve Etta’s fund development goals. This director is responsible for individual major giving, and broad-based appeals. The Development Director will oversee and manage foundation initiatives, corporate and event fundraising.  The Development Director must work effectively with affiliate groups such as board committees, alumni associations, Young Leadership, Auxiliaries, “Friends of” and related constituency groups to ensure effective fund development for ETTA at OHEL.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Development is responsible for developing the strategy for resource development and ensuring its implementation for ETTA.
 
Some specific duties include:
·      Set strategic goals and focus for development activities in collaboration with the Executive Director
·      Develop a strong understanding of each program area and its evolving work and resource needs
·      Create an annual calendar of events, mailings and cultivation/stewardship activities to develop a community of donors willing to support ETTA with major gifts on an annual basis
·      Oversee individual donor fundraising efforts and supervise staff.  Arrange for high-level donor/prospect meetings for CEO and provide him with materials and strategy for each major ask.
·      Manage the budget and staffing priorities for the Development Department
·      Set direction and strategy for foundation initiatives, corporate and event fundraising and manage staff and consultants in these areas. 
·      Coordinate with ETTA’s national partner OHEL’s fund development activities
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Successful candidates for the Director of Development must represent ETTA professionally while also conveying passionate commitment to the goals of inclusion and providing high quality services to children and adults with disabilities and their families. The successful candidate will be that person most likely to ensure that fund development is effective while also working well with all levels of staff. Other qualifications include:
·      Demonstrated successful experience of five years or more with all forms of fund development, including major gifts, events, and planning for an organization of comparable budget size
·      Proven ability to raise $2mm annually
·      Prior experience as a Development Director (or Associate Director) with a track record of planning, managing and executing for growth is desirable
·      Knowledge of the Jewish philanthropic landscape in Los Angeles, including relationships with funders and donors
·      Knowledge of and prior experience in fund development with a social service agency
·      Superior writing skills, particularly for a general audience and also some grant writing and proposal development,
·      Ability to serve as a team player within multiple teams
·      Ability to balance day to day demands with big-picture vision and strategy
·      Demonstrated commitment to issues surrounding developmental disabilities, knowledge of and familiarity with this community.

 Life Skills Coach

Exciting career opportunity with a dynamic, growing non-profit Jewish organization!  ETTA, the premiere agency for serving the Jewish special needs community in greater Los Angeles for 20 years, is seeking motivated, creative and energetic Life Skills Coaches to support young adults with Developmental Disabilities.  The Life Skills coach will be responsible for helping clients develop the skills and abilities necessary to live an independent life, as happy and healthy, young adults in the LA Jewish community.  The LSC is expected to have knowledge and ability to support Jews within their community.
Hours: day, evening and weekend

  Direct Care Staff

 

ETTA Center is seeking Direct Care Staff to support adults with Developmental Disabilities within the Los Angeles Jewish community.  DCS's provide assistance with daily activities such as personal care, money management, meal planning and preparation and life skills.  DCS also facilitate community involvement by accompanying individuals on outings in the community or providing transportation to work or other activities with possible use of public transportation.  In addition, DCS's support therapeutic and behavioral plans in partnership with staff to enhance the quality of life for those we support.  The DCS is expected to have knowledge and ability to support observant Jews within their community. 

Hours: day, evening and weekend

 Direct Service Professionals (DSPs) for Group Homes

 


ETTA is seeking experienced DSPs (Direct Support Professionals) to work in our group homes for developmentally disabled adults. Full-time and Part-time positions are available. Several shifts available, including evening, overnight and weekends.

Pleasant work in a lovely 6 person adult residential group home in a nice neighborhood.

JOB DUTIES: Provide support and supervision to adults with disabilities. Supervise activities of daily living including hygiene, chores, and food preparation. Sunday work also involves taking residents on outings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, through oral and written skills, with all levels of staff
  • Experience in working with adults with disabilities
  • Be willing to complete free 1 week course within 1 year
  • Must have valid California driver's license.
  • Over 21 years of age.
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Fingerprinting and criminal background check will be required

Life Skills/Social Coach/Integration into the Jewish Community   

The Life Skills/Social Coach will be part of the ETTA´s J-CHAI program, responsible for teaching, coaching and assisting adults with intellectual and/or developmental challenges in all aspects of their daily living to foster independence and ensure their quality of life in the Jewish Community. This is a part-time position, up to 15 hours a week, with a flexible schedule, that may require work on nights and weekends. Your foremost purpose will be to make a positive difference in the daily life of our participants. 

Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, through oral and written skills, with all levels of staff
  • Experience in working with adults with disabilities
  • Ability to obtain fingerprint/abuse index clearance from Community Care Licensing, if program requires
  • Drive/have a car

Shomer Shabbos Staff

ETTA Center seeks Shomer Shabbos MEN for Shabbos duty in our men’s group homes. Located in the Valley near Chabad, Shaarey Zedek and other shuls.  6 residents.  On-duty from  approximately 4 PM Friday to midnight Saturday night. Duties:  assisting residents in the observance and celebration of Shabbat; walking to shul; socializing; and ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents. Must be a US citizen and should be available to work at least one Shabbat per month. Background clearance and training will be required.

Sunday DSPs for Activities

Seeking DSPs (Direct Support Professionals) to work on Sunday from 8 - 4 PM or from 4 PM to midnight. Sunday is a fun day for our adult group home residents. It is a day for trips, movies, bowling, parks, basketball, etc. We are looking for individuals who are interested in supervising these activities on Sundays -- this include driving our 8 passenger van. If you already have your DSP certificate - that would be wonderful! Experience is preferred but we will train if you have some background working with developmentally disabled individuals. Candidates must have a valid California driver's license and an excellent driving record as well as be able to pass background check and be legally eligible to work in the U.S.

Location: Sherman Oaks & Valley Village

Compensation: $8 to $12 per hour depending upon prior experience
