Board of Directors

Sharon Levine, Co-President


Mrs. Levine holds an MS in Educational Psychology from Vanderbilt University. She has volunteered with ETTA for the past 12 years, serving as board president since 2009. Mrs. Levine is part of many support organizations in the community. She is the mother of eight children, 2 of whom are married, and all of whom have been or currently are ETTA volunteers. She loves the organization and is completely committed to the cause of children and adults with disabilities, and is looking forward to growing ETTA’s programs and services with our new partners OHEL.

Moishe Hellman  

Moishe Hellman, Co-President


President of OHEL and long-time real estate developer in NYC. Mr. Hellman is active in many institutions, including many Yeshivot and Maimonides Medical Center. He is renowned for bringing to fruition OHEL’s evolving and expansive vision and for articulating that OHEL’s children are ‘our’ children. Under Mr. Hellman’s leadership OHEL has grown to a $50 million agency that serves and elevates the lives of thousands of individuals and families in every day.

Kam Babaoff


After earning his engineering degree at USC, Mr. Babaoff co-founded Ensemble Real Estate Solutions in 1989. He is currently Managing Director at the company, which specializes in development, ownership and management of a wide variety of commercial real estate properties. He has served on ETTA’s board since 1998 and served as Chairman of the Board from 2004-2012. He has been instrumental in the development of ETTA's residential services division. Mr. Babaoff also serves on the Board of Directors of a number of other non-profit educational and religious organizations. 

Shloime Dachs

Shloime Dachs


Shloime Dachs exploded onto the Jewish music scene in the last decade with a brilliant debut album, 'One Day At A Time.' Since then, his magical voice has entertained and dazzled thousands of listeners in concerts and weddings throughout the world. Mr. Dachs has performed hundreds of times for OHEL and he and his wife Libby, regularly open their hearts and home to many OHEL residents throughout the year. He is a board member of both OHEL and Camp Kaylie. 

Ben Englander


Ben Englander is the Vice President of Engineering for Rosco, Inc., a family-run manufacturing business. A graduate of Columbia School of Engineering, Mr. Englander is married to Yael and together they have five children. Driven to contribute to the community, he has worked with numerous communal organizations. Mr. Englander has been an Executive Board Member of OHEL Children’s Home and Family Services for five years and joined the Board of Camp Kaylie three years ago.

Dave Garden

Dave Garden


An entrepreneur and venture capitalist, Mr. Garden is always searching for strong new business leaders. He has founded numerous companies and participated in funding many others. In addition to his business ventures, he is a reserve deputy sheriff for LA County, loves working out and has two dogs. Mr. Garden became involved with ETTA when his younger brother, Jonathan, moved into ETTA’s Ryzman Family Home.

Jay Kestenbaum

Jay Kestenbaum


Mr. Kestenbaum is Vice-President of OHEL and has been very involved in the expansion of OHEL’s services in the Five Towns. Since selling his business Refrigeration Sales, Jay serves as a consultant to AirGas, a nationally based refrigerant company.

Elly Kleinman

Elly Kleinman


Well-known community activist and renowned philanthropist Mr. Kleinman is Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Camp Kaylie, and is Co-Chairman of the Board of OHEL. He is the founder of the Americare Companies, the leader in providing home health care, and leverages his business acumen to OHEL and many other organizations. The Elly and Brochie Kleinman Regional Center in Far Rockaway is a licensed family clinic serving individuals and families from the Long Island and Queens areas.

Irving Langer

Irving Langer


Irving Langer is the CEO of E&M Associates, a real estate company he founded in 1970. He and his wife Miriam have three children and several grandchildren. Irving is the author of The Kosher Grapevine and is active in numerous non-profit organizations and enjoys travel, writing poetry, fine dining, wine tasting, and spending time with his family.

Murray Lappe

Murray Lappe


Dr. Murray Lappe is the founder and former chairman of eScreen, Inc. In addition, he also founded National Medical Review Offices, Inc., and served as its Chief Executive Officer from 1989-2001. Dr. Lappe has been a pioneer in workplace drug testing since its original introduction in 1983 and has nearly 20 years of experience in medical device development and occupational medicine. He holds nine patents related to drugs of abuse testing, and is the inventor of the eScreen instant drug testing system. He has served on the ETTA board since 2010.

Irving Lebovics

Irving Lebovics


Dr. Irving Lebovics is the Chairman of Agudath Israel of California in addition to serving on various Synagogue and Jewish School boards. Dr. Irving Lebovics serves as co-director of the Division of Dentistry at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is also the co-director of the General Practice Residency in Hospital Dentistry at Cedars, and a visiting lecturer at the UCLA School of Dentistry. Dr. Lebovics has a long-standing interest in special needs children and adults, originally founding a special education school in Los Angeles and later becoming involved with the ETTA Center, serving as  board president from 1998-2000.  

Chevee Lerer Mellon

Chavee Lerer Mellon


Dr. Mellon holds a MA and Ph.D. in Psychology from NYU. She was a post-doctoral fellow in Neuropharmacology at NYU Medical School, and spent many years researching Alzheimer’s disease. For the past 13 years, she has taught psychology at Yeshiva of Los Angeles (YULA) boys’ school. Along with her husband Vic and three children, Dr. Mellon is a proud member of the Los Angeles Jewish community. Her family has been involved with ETTA since its inception, hosting Shabbatonim and volunteering.

Rivka Wilamowski

Rivka Wilamowsky


Rivka Wilamowsky lives in Lawrence with her husband Shlomo. They send two daughters to Manhattan High School, one daughter to Shulamith and their three boys go to Yeshiva Ketana. Two of their daughters will be attending Camp Kaylie this summer, one of whom is a returning camper.

Mel Zachter

Mel Zachter


A resident of Staten Island, NY, Mr. Zachter is a long-time devoted friend and supporter of OHEL. Mel has been an active board member of OHEL for more than 30 years, is currently co-president with Moishe Hellman, and serves as the Chairman of OHEL's Executive Committee as well as Treasurer. Mel is an Executive Committee Partner at Loeb & Troper, LLP. He and his wife, Phyllis, are both very active in OHEL, as well as being engaged many other community caused and charities. Mel has established the Mel and Phyllis Zachter OHEL Endowment Fund.
